Port Charlotte - Charlotte County

Charlotte County, Florida is located around the banks of Charlotte Harbor and features an abundance of beautiful vistas, sporting activities for all ages, and a relaxed lifestyle. Nestled along Florida’s Southwest Gulf Coast, between Sarasota and Naples, Charlotte County is approximately 100 miles south of Tampa. The region covers a diverse landscape of cities and towns, including the barrier island community of Boca Grande; Palm Island, with its serene beaches accessible by ferry; secluded Don Pedro Island; and Little Gasparilla Island.

Charlotte County boasts two public beaches, Port Charlotte and Englewood beaches. Six Environmental Parks offer opportunities for fishing, kayaking, bird and aquatic observation, and many other outdoor activities. The park system also contains many boat, canoe and kayak launches for water-sport activities.

An abundance of small city communities like Punta Gorda, Englewood, Port Charlotte, El Jobean, Manasota Key, Cape Haze, and Placida are found in this county. Each city contains picturesque and waterfront landscapes, with quaint fishing and arts villages.

Active lifestyles in Charlotte County are filled with more than 70 parks and nature preserves, miles of beaches, fishing, paddling and sailing. The area is also home to 16 golf courses and numerous annual sporting events.

Boca Grande

Set on Gasparilla Island, the historic village of Boca Grande offers old world charm, quaint shops and restaurants, and gorgeous beach views.

Don Pedro Island

Don Pedro Island State Park is a 225-acre park located in the Gulf of Mexico between Palm Island and Little Gasparilla Island. This secluded barrier island is accessible only by boat.

El Jobean

Charming El Jobean has its own old-Florida flair. A former winter home for circus and carnival performers, it features a historic post office museum and cafe that hosts weekly Bluegrass jam sessions.

Englewood-Cape Haze

Located on the Lemon Bay, off the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, Englewood remains one of Florida’s best-kept secrets. Englewood is a beach community thriving on its nature parks, cultural events, beaches, fishing and arts offerings.

Manasota Key

Two jewels you will find on Manasota Key are Chadwick Park at Englewood Beach and the Stump Pass Beach State Park. Sparkling water, sandy shores, hidden seashells and a lot of sunshine make these two communities sparkle.

Palm Island

Seven miles of white sandy beach and crystal clear water await you on this retreat away from the world. A car ferry to get there adds to the remote feel and charm of this island getaway.

Port Charlotte

Port Charlotte, the county’s geographical center, is home to the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, as well as the Charlotte County Historical Center. This waterfront museum features changing glimpses into the area’s past.

Punta Gorda

The city of Punta Gorda is a historic town that lies along beautiful Charlotte Harbor. Streets lined with huge royal palms, beautifully restored period homes with wide verandas, brick lanes, street lamps and benches create an unforgettable old-Florida atmosphere. Nearly everything is waterfront here from hotels and shopping to parks and fine dining.
